First created over 20 years ago, this lamp showcases the incredible translucency and light diffusing qualities of washi, as the whole lamp is illuminated, even in sections where there are anywhere from 4 to 5 layers of washi.

Wabi-sabi is the Japanese appreciation of beauty in imperfection and impermanence.  It values natural textures, subtle irregularities, and the passage of time.  Handmade washi embodies this aesthetic through its visible fibers, gentle variations, and organic details shaped by the maker’s hands and the seasons.

The lamp, including the washi used, was created in Fukuoka, Japan by washi artist Yuki Yoshimura.
