LIN - 32cm(12.5") Handcrafted Washi Lampshade - Handmade Japanese Lamp

Japanese Paper Lampshade with diagonal lines and water drop design.  32cm (12.5") diameter.

This product, from the paper to the final product, was handmade by washi artist Yuki Yoshimura in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan.

1. About This Product

• The item is sold as a lampshade only.
  Lighting components (socket, cord, bulb) are not included (see below.)
• Each shade is handmade using traditional washi paper, resulting in natural variations that make every piece unique.

 

2. Features of Handcrafted Washi

• Because each shade is produced by hand, variations may appear in:
• Fiber patterns and texture
• Color tone
• Paper waviness and density
• These variations are a hallmark of genuine handmade washi and are not defects.
• When long fibers and other materials are incorporated into the washi paper, slight wrinkles or warping may occur during the drying process due to differences in shrinkage between materials. Please understand that this is a natural characteristic of washi, and not a defect.  
• Over time, you may enjoy subtle aging effects caused by changes in light and humidity—one of the natural charms of washi.
• Washi produces a soft, warm illumination that suits living rooms, bedrooms, reading nooks, and many other interior styles.

3. Compatible Lighting Fixtures

Use lighting fixtures compliant with the safety standards of your country, such as PSE-certified (Japan), UL-certified (US), or other certified equipment.

Required specifications

• Socket type: E26 or E17 (adapter included)
• Compatible with standard pendant, cord-set, or table lamp fixtures that include shade-mounting hardware.

Recommended

• LED bulbs only (they remain cool and are energy-efficient)
• 40W equivalent or lower
• Color temperature: 2200K–2700K, ideal for producing the warm glow that complements washi paper

Not compatible

• Incandescent bulbs, as they become too hot and may cause overheating.

4. Installation

No electrical work is required.

1. Ensure your lighting fixture includes a shade-mount ring or shade-fixing hardware.
2. Position the lampshade and secure it using the fixture’s screws or ring.
3. Installation typically takes about 5 minutes.

5. Safety Precautions

To ensure safe and long-lasting use:

• This product contains no electrical components.
  Always pair it with PSE-certified (or equivalent certification) household lighting equipment.
• Make sure the bulb does not touch the shade.
  Maintain adequate distance to avoid overheating.
• Use LED bulbs only for safety and proper heat control.
• Do not use in environments that are:
• High-temperature
• High-humidity
• Exposed to water
• Avoid heavy impact, crushing, or bending, as washi paper can be damaged.
• If you notice any unusual heat, odors, or irregularities, stop using the product and contact your lighting fixture’s manufacturer.
• Keep away from open flames at all times.
  Use only with lighting fixtures intended for general household indoor use.
