TRADITIONAL JAPANESE CRAFTMANSHIP

All products are designed and handcrafted in Fukuoka, Japan by Yuki Yoshimura, starting with each sheet of washi (Japanese paper).
He first became interested in washi as a graduate student, and after writing his thesis on its use in contemporary architecture, he spent two years as an apprentice in a washi workshop, learning the art of paper-making and about washi’s versatile uses.
After his apprenticeship, he taught architecture and design at Kyushu Sangyo University for 9 years, but the demands of work pulled him away from life with his family and local community. Over time, he started to feel a calling back to the craftsas well as a new calling into farming. In 2024, he resigned from his job at the university, beginning a new chapter in his life.
Learning from the lifestyle of Japanese farmers of the past - tending to their rice fields in the warmer months, and occupying themselves with various crafts in the colder months - Yuki also farms, makes furniture, and teaches, in addition to creating washi; working alongside family and neighbors to contribute to building a vibrant and sustainable community for all.
